Reporter hi chris and mary, most of the samples were actually taken from water sources from sinks and polices where you would wash your hands these test results showed that some of the Drinking Water sources, some of the water fountains at this Charter School came back with lead levels ten times above the acceptable limits. The testing took 324 water samples, a sample from every single water source in all eight nontraditional facilities within the Newark Public School district for this phase of testing. The tax reforms of right-wing President Ivan Duque spread public anger and protests throughout Colombia.
Colombian President Ivan Duque has said he is withdrawing his controversial tax reform proposal, denouncing thousands of protesters across the South American nation over several days of measures.
In a video on Sunday, Duque said he would ask Congress to “withdraw the law proposed by the finance ministry and urgently process a new law that is the fruit of consensus to avoid financial uncertainty.”
The right-wing government stressed that reforms were essential to stabilize Colombia’s finances, maintain its credit rating, and fund social programs, spreading public outrage and protests. ....

Colombian President Ivan Duque has said he is withdrawing a contentious tax reform proposal after thousands of protesters took to the streets across the South American nation for several days to denounce the measures.
In a video on Sunday, Duque said he would ask Congress “to withdraw the law proposed by the finance ministry and urgently process a new law that is the fruit of consensus, in order to avoid financial uncertainty”.

Thousands march in Colombia over tax proposals, rising insecurity


Bogota, Colombia – Tens of thousands of protesters answered the call of Colombia’s biggest unions to take to the streets over the government’s proposed tax proposals despite a court order to postpone the strike over concerns of an overstretched health system amid a third wave of coronavirus.
Teachers, university students, trade unions, Afro-Colombian and Indigenous groups and many others took part in the protests on Wednesday against tax changes put forward by right-wing President Ivan Duque’s government.
The government has proposed an array of new or expanded taxes on citizens and business owners and also to reduce or eliminate many tax exemptions, such as those on product sales, to help boost an economy severely affected by COVID-19. ....
