ISLAMABAD: Two joint investigation teams (JITs) have been constituted to probe cases registered against lawyers under Anti-Terrorism Act and Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), sources told
Dawn.
Chief Commissioner Islamabad Amer Ahmed Ali issued separate notifications in this regard. The cases against the lawyers were registered in the Ramna and Margalla police stations in connection with their attack on Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Feb 8.
Earlier, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Islamabad Afzal Ahmed Kausar had requested the chief commissioner to constitute the JITs.
The JITs were constituted under section 19 of ATA. ....

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad chief commissioner has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) on Monday to probe into the Islamabad High Court (IHC) attack and a notification was also issued in this regard.
According to the notification, the JIT comprises representatives of Inter-Services Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, SSP (Investigation), Counter Terrorism Department SSP, Saddar SP, SDPO and Margalla police SHO.
It further stated that the investigation team will also seek help from the IHC Bar and the Islamabad District Bar, adding that the JIT will probe the matter at Margalla and Ramna police stations. ....

Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Athar Minallah, expressing displeasure over last week s ransacking of the high court on Monday, called for lawyers involved in the attack to be given exemplary punishment.
The judge made these remarks while hearing the case pertaining to the lawyers February 8 rampage. Hundreds of lawyers ransacked the high court s premises, including the IHC CJ s chambers, during a protest over demolition of illegally built lawyers chambers.
During the proceeding, secretary of the IHC s bar association, Sohail Akbar Chaudhry, asked the court to form a judicial commission to investigate the case. ....
