Licences of 21 lawyers suspended over attack on IHC

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday ordered suspension of the licences of 21 lawyers for ransacking the chamber of Chief Justice Athar Minallah during a protest against the demolition of their alleged illegal chambers at the Islamabad District Courts last month.
A three-member bench presided by Chief Justice Athar Minallah heard the case. We are of the opinion that the 21 respondents arrayed in the complaint in hand had committed grave acts of indiscipline and misconduct on the 8th of February, 2021, an order of IHC issued today read.

ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad chief commissioner has formed a joint investigation team (JIT) on Monday to probe into the Islamabad High Court (IHC) attack and a notification was also issued in this regard.
According to the notification, the JIT comprises representatives of Inter-Services Intelligence, Intelligence Bureau, SSP (Investigation), Counter Terrorism Department SSP, Saddar SP, SDPO and Margalla police SHO.
It further stated that the investigation team will also seek help from the IHC Bar and the Islamabad District Bar, adding that the JIT will probe the matter at Margalla and Ramna police stations.
