Heavy rain has battered large parts of Durban since Thursday night, leaving in its wake fallen trees, waterlogged roads and a minibus taxi trapped in a sinkhole.

An icy blast has hit the province with snowfall on the Berg and temperatures plunging to a minimum of 2 degrees Celcius in Underberg and 3 degrees in Mooi River and Kokstad overnight.
