Across the Arctic, the first reports from health agencies of COVID-19 case numbers were higher than they had been for much of the past two weeks.
Over the holiday weekend and up to and including noon on Monday, the Arctic Slope Native Association was notified of 21 individuals who tested positive for COVID-19.
Twelve of the individuals are residents of Utqiaġvik; and nine individuals are residents of a North Slope Borough community. The individuals have been instructed to self-isolate.
Samuel Simmonds Memorial Hospital (SSMH) and the North Slope Borough Health Department are in contact with the individuals, and will continue to provide monitoring of those on the Slope. The North Slope Borough contact tracing team will continue to reach out to individuals who may have been exposed and will provide additional information on appropriate precautions. ....
