Nordic skiing places like Kamview Nordic is open. The move has put downhill ski hills in Ontario behind a serious financial eight-ball. Losing the holiday ski business isn’t something easily replaced. The $20,000 promised to Ontario businesses likely won’t cover the losses in revenues for these seasonal businesses. ....

The holiday season is one of the busiest times for many resorts, and ski hills, and across Ontario it is putting operators into both frustration and financial concern. Here in Thunder Bay both Mount Baldy and Loch Lomond will be closed under the provincial order. In a posting on social media, Mount Baldy states, “There is no sugar coating this one…. Yes this is the exact feeling we had after the news…. After absolutely busting our tails day & night to make this season the best, safest and earliest yet we get yet another Covid blow. To all the Mount Baldy Supporters we cannot thank you enough for all of the support you have given us this year! We promise once we are allowed to open again we will be ready for you with some amazing conditions that will make you smile again. ....
