Tesfaye is a skilled storyteller, with experience producing music rooted in hip-hop, funk, reggae and blues. He has previously released two solo albums, D-iz-III “the Sickness” and “Athedage,” though his most recent work includes the Black Poet’s Society Reunion and a blues-funk-hip-hop band Binx. This annual fest celebrating women in the arts â and serving as a counterbalance to under-representation in the music industry â debuted in 1974 on the campus of the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, and has been taking place in Middleton since 2008. As in 2020, the 2021 edition will be a virtual fest, streaming on the Mandolin platform, but thereâs a silver lining to the fest remaining online: a festival pass is a super bargain at $50.
