Ongole : , Jan 19 (IANS) The police in Andhra Pradesh s Ongole district on Monday arrested five persons from different parts of the state for falsely propagating corrosion damage as temple attack on various social media platforms.
The police arrested Thotakura Anil Kumar from Ongole, Mandadapu Srinivasa Rao from Sattenapalli, Guntur, Chenchennagari Naresh Kumar Reddy from Vennapusapalli, Ananthapur, Budda Devendra Kumar from Akkayapalem Urban, Visakhapatnam, and Bodicherla Nagamallikarjun from Kadapa.
Prakasam police officials fanned out to all these far off places personally and arrested them for spreading falsehoods on Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, YouTube and other social media platforms. ....

Cracking the whip, the Prakasam police arrested five more persons from different parts of the State on Monday for allegedly carrying out a ‘ false propaganda’ on the social media in connection with the Singarayakonda Lakshmi Narasimhaswamy arch incident .
The arrests came close on the heels of the police nabbing eight persons, including six scribes on the charge of ‘spreading falsehood’ on the social media and through electronic media, ‘hurting’ the sentiments of devotees based on rumours spread by a local person that the idols of Narasimha Swamy and the mother goddess in the welcome arch were vandalised by unidentified persons on January 5. ....

Ongole, Jan 8 : Six Andhra Pradesh journalists arrested in Prakasam district for falsely propagating corrosion damage to a temple arch as an alleged attack have been locked up for a day and are likely to get bail later on Friday, an official said.
The six false news propagating journalists have been locked up for a day in Markapuram, they may receive bail today (Friday), Assistant Superintendent of Police B. Ravichandra told IANS.
On Wednesday, Singarayakonda police arrested Maddasani Moulali, truck driver, Ambati Siva Kumar, journalist from Bahujana Media, Sagi Srinivasa Rao (Dhrama Vyuham newspaper), Popuri Kiran (ABN Andhra Jyoti Telugu news channel reporter), S. K. Bashu (NTV) and Katragadda Rammohan (HMTV) for disseminating falsehoods. ....
