i m jeff glor. this is our western edition. isis did claim responsibility today for the new year s carnage in turkey calling it revenge for turkish attacks on isis fighters in syria. 39 were killed when a single gunman opened fire in a packed nightclub. at least 65 were hurt, some severely. police have detained eight people as they search for the shooter. jonathan vigliotti is in e tanbul. turkish police believe this nin may be the gunman in the nightclub massacre seen her on video footage police released showing the suspected killer changing money. he has still not been identified but today s claims by isis that he was avenging turkey s role in syria s bloody civil war next door will only heighten fears. this blurry surveillance footage was all police had to go on when use gunman attacked the famous reina club, where a boisterous crowd of about 600 was dancing in the new year. the attacker shot a police officer and civilian at the club s entrance before continuing inside.
