'Rat running' worrying residents who live near Lower Hutt crash hotspot

Some residents described seeing cars travelling along Grounsell Cres, a residential street with a 50kph limit, at about 80kph.
Edwards wanted to see red light cameras installed at the SH2 intersections with the Melling and Kennedy Good bridges and the speed limit lowered to 80kph.
James Scott, who heads the Belmont Residents’ Association which had hosted Wednesday s meeting, said he was worried the speeding problem on SH2 would get worse once Transmission Gully opened and traffic through the Haywards Interchange increased. ....

Netflix users came together on social media to agree: there’s something off about
Army of the Dead on the streaming platform.
According to users across Twitter and Reddit, some scenes appeared to have “dead” pixels, or completely white spaces, across the screen.
A Reddit user gave more detail of the situation: “It is not visible in every scene, as only one of the (I estimate three) cameras has a faulty sensor. For example, you can clearly see it in
Dave Bautista’s reverse shot when he sits down in the diner at the beginning of the movie.” ....

Pedestrian hit and killed on Lower Hutt highway named

State Highway 2, Western Hutt Rd, near Grounsell Cres, in Lower Hutt
In a statement on Wednesday, police said the man was Christopher John Westbury, 41, from Lower Hutt, formerly of Feilding.
The crash occurred about 10pm on May 18, near the intersection with Grounsell Cres. The road was closed for several hours.
Simon Edwards, a Hutt City councillor who lives nearby, said he heard a “loud thud” at the time of the collision.
