It all began on April 14 between Mahmud Adamu, a young Fulani herder from Wolbi village and a Mwaghavul farmer, Aaron Gimba, from neighbouring Murish village. The latter lost his life, while the former’s kinsman, Haruna, escorted his soul. Since then, reprisal attacks have continued unabated. Aaron, wielding a hoe, was trying to evict Adamu, who had trespassed onto his farm. In defence, the herder struck him with his herding stick, and Aaron fell down, locals told WikkiTimes.

Death is the ultimate of all the gloomy things to write about in life. It is the cessation of all possibilities. And this is why it always leaves a bitter taste in the memory, whether it is the death of a person in a distant place or a loved one close by. And when we lose dear and loved ones, there is no consolation to be found in Horace’s words that “Pale death beats equally at the poor man’s gate and at the palaces of kings.” Nobody wants to write a eulogy of a friend, a colleague, a relative or any loved one. Having to pen this tribute to my boss, colleague, brother and friend Professor Habu Galadima is one of the most harrowing experience I have ever gone through. How could we be talking of a eulogy to someone who was still with us a few days ago? How could I even make sense of speaking about him in the past tense?

President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of Professor Habu Galadima, the Director-General, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, describing him as an intellectual colossus, who stood tall in the field of scholarship and knowledge.
President Buhari said this in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja on Sunday.
The President said: Galadima was an eloquent and remarkable intellectual whose contributions to scholarship were vast and remarkable, and Nigeria will continue to remember him for these contributions.
