The year of Zoom: How teams across world collaborated to ensure everyone meets requirements of WFH


Bajwa revealed that the last few weeks have seen Google Meet’s day over day growth surpass 60 per cent. Meet’s current usage is over 30 times of what it was in January 2020, according to the company. “Overall, more than 3 million users have been connecting on Meet every day and are spending more than 3 billion minutes together – more than 3,800 years of secure meetings in a single day,” he added.

While Teams and Google Meet both had break out usage, 2020 was clearly the year of Zoom. From just 10 million daily participants in meetings in December 2019, Zoom’s daily participant numbers had jumped to 200 million by March 2020, and to 300 million by April 2020. More importantly, Zoom’s total revenue in the third quarter of 2020 has jumped by 36 per cent year-over-year to $777.2 million. ....

Redmi 9 Power review: Big battery at a budget price


The phone sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with the Dot camera on top. The display provides a good viewing experience given the price of this smartphone. Be it Netflix or just browsing on social media apps like Facebook, the experience is excellent. It also comes with Widevine L1 certification, which ensures support for HD streaming on apps like Netflix and YouTube. I was also impressed with the audio when watching Netflix, which was adequately loud.
Redmi 9 Power runs the Android 10 based on MIUI 12, and this is one of the first phones I’ve used with the MIUI 12 running on it. It also brings the addition of an app drawer, which I have not seen in previous Redmi or Xiaomi phones given I am reviewing one of these after quite a while. You can choose to add it at the time setting up the device. I find the app drawer quite convenient on Android, and it is good to see Xiaomi add this feature. ....

Google Search to now show results in relevant Indian language even if you type in English characters

The feature will roll out in five Indian languages first: Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu and Marathi. Further, Google is extending the ability to toggle for Search results between English and regional languages to four more Indian languages. These are Tamil, Telugu, Bangla and Marathi. The feature was originally launched four years back.
Further, the Google Maps app will now support Indian languages. Nine Indian languages will be supported in the Maps app. Users will be able to to the language settings in the app and search for places, get directions in their preferred language.
Google is also adding the ability to get help with homework help in Hindi, which is a feature available with the Google Lens. According to the company, India is the number one market for the usage of Google Lens. ....
