2nd Amendment sanctuaries in NY: Steuben County proposal denied


Kyle Peterson and Scott Van Etten are on the same page up to a point. 
Both own multiple firearms and enjoy shooting at the range. Van Etten even shoots competitively across the state, while Peterson handles firearms every day in his duties as a US Army soldier stationed in Penn Yan. 
They both agree New York state’s gun laws are too restrictive on the law-abiding citizens who hunt, participate in recreational shooting sports and own firearms for home protection. 
Where they part, though, is on the power of local governments to shoot down state laws. 
Peterson and his group, Guardians of the Second Amendment, recently presented the Steuben County legislature with a proposal that would make the county a “Second Amendment sanctuary.”  ....
