The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the Delhi government to treat as a representation a Public Interest Litigation seeking capping of the price of High-Resolution Computerised Tomography (HRCT) used for detecting the presence and severity of COVID-19 infection in the lungs of patients.
New Delhi [India], May 31 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday directed the concerned authorities to decide the representation seeking direction to regulate or cap the rate of High-Resolution Computerised Tomography (HRCT) test/scan in the national capital for patients with COVID-19 symptoms.
With the direction, the court disposed of the plea by Shivleen Pasricha, a lawyer, who had claimed that several variants of COVID-19 were not detectable through RT-PCR and doctors were prescribing HRCT tests for better diagnosis. However, while the test was reasonably priced in Delhi government hospitals and under the Central Government Health Scheme, its cost in private hospitals in the national capital ranged between Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,500.

According to the petition, the cost of HRCT in the national capital is unregulated and very high beyond what a common man can afford.

NEW DELHI: A PIL urged the Delhi High Court on Monday to direct the Delhi government to cap the price of High Resolution Computerised Tomography (HRCT) which is used for detecting the presence and severity of COVID-19 infection in the lungs of patients.
A bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the Delhi government and sought its stand on the plea by Shivleen Pasricha, a lawyer, who has claimed that for detection of COVID-19 amongst suspected/ probable patients, the most widely recommended test is RT-PCR.
