KCCI Appeals LG Sinha, Seeks Financial Sustenance For Lockdown Affected Daily Earners SRINAGAR: Stating that the fresh lockdown has pushed people who survive on daily earnings to starvation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries, President, Sheikh Ashiq has appealed the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to announce “financial sustenance package” for the affected. In a handout, Ashiq said: “While the business community was still struggling to revive after the unprecedented developments since August 2019, the fresh spell of lockdown has created havoc for many of the families, which survive on daily earnings.” The KCCI President said, “From the transporters to Shikara Walas to small shopkeepers, people from various walks of life including local laborers and street vendors have not been able to earn even a penny.” ....

According to Anadolu Agency, the new attraction inside an igloo in Gulmarg, a popular skiing destination in the region, serves hot food and tea on tables made of snow. Syed Waseem Shah, a hotelier, took inspiration for the cafe located outside his Kolahoi Green Heights hotel from Iglu-Dorf, an igloo village with hotels and restaurants in Zermatt, Switzerland. “It is in the Guinness Book of World Records. The igloo there was 13m wide, and it really amazed me. I wanted to build a similar one here, and this winter I finally did it, ” he told Anadolu Agency. ....

Kashmir Chamber VP Dr Abdul Majid Mir Is No More SRINAGAR: Abdul Majid Mir, the incumbent Vice President of Kashmir Chamber f Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has died in a road accident. He had gone to fetch some grocery when a scooter hit him in a Delhi locality. He died almost instantly and breathed is last while being driven to the hospital. Dr Abdul Majid Mir (middle) speaking to the media Mir along with his family was in Delhi. Sources privy to the developments said Mir has been shifted to AIIMS for mandatory medico-legal processes following which he will be flown to Srinagar for burial. The air-traffic between Srinagar and the rest of the world is snapped because of the huge snowfall. ....
