many accolades, many awards. he received recognition, but probably the most important was he received the presidential medal of freedom in 1970 by then-president richard nixon. native earl behrens served as editor of the chronicle. we learned more about his life. here at the house in california, over the last two years, i have been privileged to study the people who actually lived if this home. one of which was earl behrens. earl was born here in shasta county, old shasta. he was from a pioneer family. student on upd into high school here in redding, and somehow had the squire, even esquir before he went to college. he attended stanford. about that time, there was a conflict going on and many men entered the service, and it was later called world war i. he went in as an officer. his unit was here on the coast and they went first to the philippines to go to vladivostok, russia on the east coast. when he was in vladivostok, his unit was there to protect the hospital ....
book came. and then later on, i became a fish and game warden myself. and then i continued writing stories about my generation of fish and wildlife so the book is called the game warden s son. being with my dad during those years when he was a game warden was like having a storybook childhood. i did things that most kids would dream of. when he started out, he was on what they call marine patrol and his duty was patrolling the channel the california channel islands which are fantastic. and they re anywhere from like 26 miles across the sea like the song says or clear out way out in the ocean. so i got to go on these excursions or these patrols out into the out into the channel islands and see see things that mofmente kids would only dream of. there was one particular chapter i wrote about in the book. i called it a trip to the islands where we went out and we took these two national park scientists from washington, d.c. out to santa barbara island and an at th ....
