After a
strong Session I and Session II on Saturday, the No. 8 Nebraska wrestling team had a rather disappointing Day 2 at the 2021 Big Ten Championships.
With three wrestlers into the finals in 7-seed Ridge Lovett (149 pounds), 6-seed Taylor Venz (184) and 1-seed Eric Schultz (197), the Huskers started off strong in the consolation bracket with multiple wins putting them in position for another run at second place.
But it was to no avail as the Huskers lost all three of their matchups in the finals. Two matches were against No. 1 seeds, while the other against No. 2. In fact, nine No. 1 seeds won their weight class on Sunday with Schultz being the lone top seed to lose in the finals.

This is why I transferred, to get better and better and better every day,” Eierman said after his win. Eierman is surrounded by an elite training partner at 133 pounds in Big Ten finalists Austin DeSanto, and two weights above him is another Big Ten finalist Kaleb Young. This Hawkeye program has embraced Eierman and his funky style, and he’s ready to chase his first individual title and

Rutgers’ freshman 184-pounder avenged his only loss of the season, pinning Minnesota’s Owen Webster after a reversal to advance to the semifinal round of the Big Ten Championships on Saturday at the Bryce Jordan Center. Poznanski also clinched an automatic qualifier spot for the NCAA Championships on March 18-20 in St. Louis.
The Scarlet Knights will have two semifinalists Poznanski and star 141-pounder Sebastian Rivera after going 2-2 as a team in the quarterfinal round. Seven of their nine wrestlers remain alive in the tournament after the first session. Rutgers is tied for ninth in the team score race with 23.5 points.
