Lon Harrand fell through the ice on one of the lakes Thursday after attempting to go ice fishing. Harrand went out on the lakes after seeing other out on the ice earlier in the day. MENOMINEE A Stephenson man drowned Thursday after going through the ice on Shakey Lakes in Menominee County. Lon Harrand, 67, reportedly had stopped at Shakey Lakes Park campground earlier in the day, seen others ice fishing and gone back home to get his gear. The Menominee County Sheriff’s Office and first responders were called out about 7:47 p.m. after Harrand failed to come home and did not answer his cell phone, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Family and friends went to the lakes, finding boot prints going onto the ice but none returning. Ice rescuers reached where Harrand had fallen through the ice and were able to recover his body, the news release stated. ....
