'Just marijuana': Forest Hill man cops massive fine for weed

A FOREST HILL man repeatedly told the magistrate his drugs were just marijuana before he was handed a stiff fine in the Gatton court on Monday.
Alex Robert Cristina told the court he had been smoking marijuana since he was 12 years old.
His Forest Hill home was raided by police on November 27, after officers were tipped off.
Police prosecutor senior sergeant Al Windsor said when police searched Cristina s property, they located 17.4 grams of cannabis in a clip seal bag, and 0.5 grams in a bowl.
Police also found an electric grinder, water pipe and scissors which had all been used in the connection of smoking cannabis, sergeant Windsor said. ....

Woman withdraws guilty plea, asks for CCTV evidence

A MOTHER-of-four children who initially pleaded guilty to one charge of driving while unlicensed due to the accumulation of demerit points has withdrawn her plea in court.
Just before the magistrate was about to hand down his sentence, Liszyska Maskey changed her mind and asked to see the CCTV footage police used as evidence against her.
Police prosecutor Senior sergeant Al Windsor said Maskey was allegedly scene by police driving into the IGA carpark in Gatton on November 22, 2020.
When police approached Maskey’s vehicle, she was allegedly sitting in the passenger seat with the ignition on. ....

A CAMPING trip gone wrong led to an 18-year-old man running his car off the Warrego Highway and the discovery of several drugs in the Hello Fresh worker s system.
Mark Rowley pleaded guilty in the Gatton Magistrates Court on Monday after he was charged in July with two offences, which were driving under the influence of drugs and driving without due care and attention.
Police prosecutor senior Sergeant Al Windsor said Rowley ran his car off the road at 2.40am on July 9, when he was travelling east on the Warrego Highway.
Rowley s Nissan X-Trail left the road and entered the median strip after losing traction and rolled through 30 meters of vegetation before coming to a standstill on the western lanes of the highway, Sergeant Windsor said. ....
