Proserpine residents, businesses report aggressive behaviour

Premium Content Subscriber only A 40-year-old Strathdickie man was arrested on May 25 after he allegedly threatened the owner of a residential property where he was sleeping without permission. Police said the man was found in the early evening sleeping near the rear of the property, and made the threats upon being woken. A 40-year-old Goodna man was arrested on May 26 after a number of businesses including a bank and bakery reported him just after 8am for behaving aggressively towards staff, kicking bins and chairs, and generally creating a disturbance. Drug bust Proserpine police also seized quantities of cannabis and methamphetamine and various drug utensils after executing a search warrant at a Spalla Drive address on May 25.

After initially being held in hospital for assessment, the man was charged over the weekend with multiple serious offences including assault occasioning bodily harm. Police allege about 4.40pm on April 28, the man attended an address in Tamarind Crescent, entered a garage and assaulted a man seated in his vehicle and woman who attempted to help the victim. He then allegedly entered the yard of a nearby address, forcing the gate to the property open and allegedly injuring an elderly woman.

Dangerous speeds clocked in Bruce Highway operation

Motorists are urged to take more care on the roads particularly with recent weather events making driving conditions more difficult. There can be no excuse for placing other people at risk on the roads by driving at high speed. Sgt Flynn said police were also concerned with the emergence of fatigued driving as a contributing factor in road crashes. The chances of being involved in a serious traffic crash when driving tired are high with slower reaction times, reduced vigilance and higher risk taking, he said.
