Cherokee Nation to unveil electric rural transit, school buses in region


TAHLEQUAH – The Cherokee Nation on Monday will unveil the tribe’s first rural electric transit buses – among the first in the country – and first electric school bus, which is the first in the state, as part of its efforts to reduce the tribe’s carbon footprint. 
The CN celebrates Earth Day by announcing several key initiatives with events planned each day next week. 
On Monday at 12:30 p.m.
 at the Cherokee Casino Tahlequah electric bus charging station in the northeast parking lot, the announcement of the electric buses will be held.

The victims included six Asian women. Five people were first shot, with two declared dead at the scene and three taken to the hospital with injuries. Two of those injured later died at the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office. Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported a Hispanic man was also injured in the shooting and was rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. Four more people were killed later.

At about 5 pm, Long first entered Young’s Asian Massage Parlor in Woodstock, an Atlanta suburb along Georgia Highway 92 and opened fire at five people, killing four. He then drove to Gold Spa and Aroma Therapy, killing four more people. A police chase followed and he was taken into custody in Crisp County 200 miles away. ....

The Southern Baptist church where 21-year-old mass shooting suspect Robert Aaron Long got baptized twice is now grieving for his victims and the families impacted by his deadly shooting rampage at three massage parlors in the Atlanta area that left eight people dead Tuesday, including six Asian women.
Jerry Dockery, the lead teaching elder at the Crabapple First Baptist Church in Milton, Georgia, where Long worshiped with his family, prayed on Sunday that God would use his church to have leaders in various areas of the public and private sector “drawn toward you.” ....
