Sous-Secrétaire d’Etat adjointe des Etats-Unis, Lisa Peterson est depuis hier en mission en République démocratique du Congo. Durant son séjour, prévu du 14 au 18 juin en cours, l’émissaire du président Joe Biden participera au tout premier dialogue bilatéral sur les droits de l’homme entre Washington et Kinshasa, annonce un communiqué du Département d’Etat américain.
Chargée de la démocratie, des droits de l’homme et du travail, Lisa Peterson vient particulièrement discuter avec les autorités congolaises et la Société civile sur « les moyens de mettre un terme à l’impunité et de faire en sorte que ceux qui commettent des abus soient tenus pour responsables », souligne la note du Département d’Etat américain.
