Chief Whip of the Senate, Sen. Orji Kalu, has commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State over the death of the first civilian governor of the state, Chief Lateef Jakande.
Kalu, in a condolence message in Abuja, said that Jakande was a selfless, patriotic and outstanding leader, whose ideology anchored on genuine leadership and good governance.
While lamenting the passing of the prominent politician, the former Governor Abia urged the political class to emulate the outstanding leadership attributes of Jakande.
Kalu pointed out that the former governor laid a solid foundation for Lagos, adding that his legacy projects will remain alive in the minds of the people. ....

Alleged N7.1bn Fraud: EFCC to arraign Orji Uzor Kalu on Tuesday

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, will on Tuesday, arraign former governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr, Orji Uzor Kalu, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The ex-governor will be docked before trial Justice Inyang Ekwo on money laundering related charges.
It will be recalled that Kalu, who piloted affairs of Abia State from 1999 to 2007, was earlier found guilty and handed a 12-year jail term by the Lagos Division of the court.
The trial court convicted him alongside his firm, Slok Nigeria Limited and a former Director of Finance in Abia State, Jones Udeogu, for allegedly stealing about N7.1billion from the state treasury. ....

Former Governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Kalu, has urged Nigerians to be cautious as the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is real, adding that the year 2020 has been challenging for the entire world.
Kalu, who applauded Nigerians for keeping strong and safe despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has ravaged the world, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his initiatives in a bid to ameliorate the pain caused by the pandemic.
