Fiveyear farm bill. There was a rejection of the house last year. A lot of negotiations back and forth and it seems like with each of these bills that gets passed, there is a bigger chorus of people who say that farm subsidies are too generous. Or this time youve faced a lot of criticism on the food Stamp Program. Is this the last farm bill you see being passed this way . Is the split in the house last ear a foretaste of farm bill to come . We all have a stake in having affordable, safe food. We in america are blessed that theres a group of people that are willing to get up every day and fight the weather. Nobody else in their business has to worry if their business will be wiped out by drought. We have a joint stake, both families, farmers, and consumers in having in agricultural food supply policy. And thats what this is. I am proud that this is a farm bill for the future and not the past. E have been talking about that we should ....

, want to plug my colleague senator rockefeller for making significant efforts to bridge the chasm between the committee and the director on some of these issues. It does not appear to be in the directors nature to accept these overtures, frankly. I think that is incredibly unfortunate. I am fully confident in the factual accuracy of the report and nothing in your response so far has persuaded me otherwise. Director brennan, let me get to a few questions. On march 16 2009, 1 of your predecessors leon panetta announced the creation of a directors review group for rendition, detention, and interrogation. To be led by well respected senior cia officer and supervisor supervised by senator [inaudible] who passed away. Do you know when and why the pen review group was disbanded . First of all i respectfully but vehemently disagree with your characterization of the cias cooperation with this committee. I am fully prepared to come forward to this committee any time it requests my appearance. I ....

The meeting will come to order. I will say at the outset that we hold this hearing to provide information to the public on the Intelligence Communitys assessment of threats facing our nation.
