The conduct of remedial, advancement, and enrichment classes for Summer 2021 will be from July 19, 2021 to August 21, 2021. The conduct of the said classes, DepEd said, aims to “reinforce learning advancement amidst the pandemic.” “Schools may also opt to shorten the conduct of remedial and advancement classes when the essential learning competencies have already been attained,” Briones explained. Rodante Marcoleta reiterated on Monday, May 3 his demand for the resignation of Secretary Leonor Briones of the Department of Labor whom he accused of involvement in anomalies surrounding the procurement of Self-Learning Modules (SLMs). Marcoleta said officials linked to the controversy should resign with Briones. The House official made the call two months after exposing in a privilege speech the lack of learning modules for students during the third quarter of the year. He said DepEd officials did not life a finger to address the situation. “Finding the declaration of ECQ in NCR as convenient excuse, it ‘instructed its Regional and Division Offices to reproduce the first-month SLMs for the 3rd quarter using locally developed SLMs’ with the promise that ‘the Central Office shall make ways to provide a funding source for printing’,” he said. ....
