SEISS has provided millions of self-employed workers with support throughout the pandemic but due to stringent eligibility rules, millions of workers found themselves ineligible for the grants. Rishi Sunak faced multiple calls to remedy this and in the 2021 Budget, the Chancellor addressed the problems to a certain extent.
SEISS has been extended to offer a fourth and fifth grant to eligible self-employed people. So how is the fourth self-employed grant calculated and when is SEISS paid?
SEISS grants have been a lifeline for millions during the coronavirus pandemic, and today, Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak has announced an extension to the scheme, meaning there will now be a 5th grant.

Rishi Sunak will face intense scrutiny in the coming days as the next Budget is laid out. The Chancellor is expected by many to extend coronavirus themed support measures such as the furlough scheme and SEISS, with some calling for the fourth grants to address certain blind spots .
