The Job Support issued in the UK has included the furlough scheme and the Self-Employed Income Support (SEISS) grants, which both pay out 80 percent of trading profits or wages up to a limit of £2,500, or £7,500 for SEISS which is paid every three months. The support schemes have cost the Treasury billions of pounds in spending, which will likely have adverse effects in the coming months and year for not only the economy, but the UK taxpayer. RISHI SUNAK was taken to court in recent weeks over SEISS eligibility problems. The charity Pregnant Then Screwed took the Chancellor to court in late January for discriminating against women in regards to SEISS claiming rules and today the verdict has been released.

Since the coronavirus pandemic started in the UK, self-employed have been among the most heavily affected groups of people in terms of finances. Lockdowns and surrounding restrictions have made it difficult or impossible for some people to work, while many of those who are able to keep working have seen demand and profits plummet. As a result, millions have turned to the Government’s Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) to get them through the stormy months.

SEISS grants can be received into mid-2021 under current rules and the fourth set of grants will soon become available. While millions of self-employed workers have been supported by SEISS, Rishi Sunak has been criticised for creating stringent rules that have made millions ineligible for support, with ExcludedUK, Forgotten Ltd and Pregnant Then Screwed emerging to push the Chancellor for change.
THE SEISS grant has provided a fraction of self-employed earnings for those who are unable to continue trading through the pandemic. But can you still claim the self-employed grant if you have a part-time job?
