Two officials recognized for life-saving efforts using a tourniquet and a thumb to help stabbed 15-year-old


WATERTOWN — The deputy and trooper turned on the street shortly after 7 p.m. June 22 and immediately noticed a crowd of more than 100 people gathered outside an apartment complex on Ohio Street in Watertown. Amid the crowd, a 15-year-old was unconscious and losing blood rapidly.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy Christian Hughes and state Trooper Sean Iles worked to save the bleeding teen. Now they are being recognized for their efforts. The sheriff’s office is planning to issue Mr. Hughes a letter of commendation for the incident.
“They really saved his life,” Sheriff Colleen O’Neill said.
This time it was when police say an 18-year-old stabbed a 13-year-old and two 15-year-old boys between buildings 5 and 6 at Eastbrook Apartments. I received my Pfizer vaccination at the Italian Cultural Centre. I was considerably impressed with the friendliness, professionalism, and efficiency of inoculating over 1,000 people that day. There was a wonderful atmosphere of community and it was great to see numerous Rogers Arena employees working the administrative details proudly in their Vancouver Canucks shirts.
There is so much negative feedback circulating about the rollout that I want to express how I view it so differently. I am in awe of what has occurred in our country, province, and city (particularly in the last few months) in terms of the scope of communicating and managing COVID-19 in a free society filled with freethinking individuals. ....

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWNY) - The man law enforcement officers dragged out of a smoke-filled motel room early Monday morning is in critical but stable condition at a Syracuse hospital.
Jefferson County sheriff deputies say 55-year-old Robert Murphy was first taken to Samaritan Medical Center after his rescue from room 112 of the Relax Inn in Watertown.
He was later airlifted to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. ....
