A £34 million Government Investigation into allegations of abuse of iraqi civilians by british troops is to be shut down. It follows a scathing report by mps which called the work of the Iraq Historic Allegations Team an unmitigated failure. Thousands of cases have been investigated but without a single prosecution. 90 of investigations into abuse allegations from afghanistan are also being dropped.
