Walk With Scott Foundation names its first ever ambassador

A CHARITY which raises money for communities across East Lothian has appointed its first ever ambassador.
The Walk With Scott Foundation (WWSF) announced Tom Shearer MBE, who worked in local government in East Lothian for more than 30 years, as the first in a series of ambassador appointments.
Mr Shearer, who lives in Longniddry, received an MBE for services to the community and local government in 2011 and was delighted to take on the role.
He said: “It is a privilege to be granted the opportunity to promote the values of WWSF, first established by Scott Glynn MBE himself and which are now embedded into the activities of the foundation. ....

Truck Nearly Crashes Off Mountain Into River On Area Roadway

A dump truck driver nearly crashed off a mountain and into the Delaware River after losing control of his vehicle and hitting a rock retaining wall.
The incident took place in Orange County around 8:20 a.m., Thursday, in Sparrow Bush, said the Sparrow Bush Fire Department.
According to the department, they were dispatched to Route 97 in the area of Hawks Nest for an accident involving a dump truck with possible injuries.
When they arrived on the scene, firefighters found the dump truck had struck the mountainside then went across the highway into the rock retaining wall, coming to a stop just prior to going over the embankment to the Delaware River. ....

Walk With Scott Foundation hands over cheque to Ross High RFC

A RUGBY club’s gym refurbishment has received a boost, thanks to a charity named after its former president.
The Walk With Scott Foundation (WWSF) handed over £3,000 to Ross High RFC, adding to the club’s own fundraising efforts.
The donation will allow the club to finish the gym refurbishment.
Scott Glynn, who created the foundation, was president at the rugby club, based on Tranent’s Blawearie Road, from 2005 to 2014.
Councillor Colin McGinn, who represents Tranent on East Lothian Council, is vice-chairman of the Walk With Scott Foundation.
He said: “WWSF recognises Ross High RFC’s prominent role at the heart of its community. Ross High RFC supports not just rugby but other sports across all ages, as well as a large number of other community events. ....

Walk With Scott Foundation hopes to hold walk in September

A MARATHON-LENGTH walk for a county charity is being planned for September.
The Walk With Scott Foundation (WWSF) had wanted to host an Infinity Walk spanning two days over the first weekend in May.
However, that has been temporarily postponed, with plans for the walk to take place in May next year instead.
A spokeswoman for the Tranent-based charity said: “Given the ongoing Covid-19 challenges, the WWSF board has regrettably concluded that these dates [May 2021] are now unrealistic.
“However, instead of the May dates, we have decided to delay the walk to Saturday, September 18, 2021 (the September weekend), where we plan to arrange a one-day marathon-length walk across East Lothian. ....
