Groups. Long story short, i was invited to speak at a church in Washington County in july 2016. The church was celebrating their 150th anniversary, and they invited me to come up and talk about what it mightve been like trying to start a church in the immediate aftermath of the american civil war. My wife and i drove up and we walked into the back of the sanctuary, and there was one lady sitting in the sanctuary, and she jumps up, runs to the back, shakes my hand, and says my family and i have something we think you may have an interest in. Would you come out to the car after the program . I said, sure. I go out to the car, she opens the trunk and tells me to hold my arms out. And shes in and out the truck, and the stack is growing taller and taller. And i say, what do we have here . And she says, these are my grandfather Thomas Wallace colleys seven volumes of handwritten journals of his service in the first virginia cavalry and his postwar life. I thought i was going to fall over in
Robbery. But when they tried to detain the man, he sped off. Officers chased him down city streets at speeds of up to 50 miles per hour. Please s police say he jumped out and tried to carjack another vehicle. Police say the man was armed when three officers fired their weapons. He later died at the hospital. The Police Department says they recovered this gun at the scene. They say it was loaded and stolen. Police say there were a lot of witnesses around, and they would like to hear from them. Its just after noon in china now. And daylight has revealed new devastation after a series of explosions in the northeastern port city of tianjin northeast of beijing. Making plum brandy. Those people that stay i understand how stressful and they are scared and have everything they own. The problem is, is that when they decide, its a decision they make to stay, it endangers us because its our duty to protect lives and property. So it creates anxiety for us. Reporter these firefighters they are prepared to put it on the line. Keep in mind they have been out here more than two weeks. And, you know, they are pretty exhausted. They are working 12 hours at a time in some cases 24 hours at a time. Then 24 hours off. They are still at it. This fire continues to grow. Its going over some of the major roads and approaching some of the areas that in this area we were told this was a safe zone. The fire doesnt care. Its still moving in. And, you know, for those folks who are still in there, in these homes, they are putting these firefighters at risk to some degree but so far, none of the homes have caught fire.
