Grewal Earns Co-Medalist Honors, Tigers Finish Third at Cougar Classic

Charleston, S.C. – Savannah Grewal carded a five-under 66 in the third round to earn co-medalist honors and Clemson women’s golf finished in third place at the Cougar Classic, held at the Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan, S.C. Grewal’s first-place finish was the first tournament win of her career. She shared co-medalist honors with former Clemson Invitational champion and current world amateur No. 1, LSU’s Ingrid Linblad.  After winning the Stage One LPGA Q School qualifier earlier this month, Grewal shined in her first tournament of her final season. The Mississauga, Ontario native finished -16 and broke her own score to par record of -12 set last year at the NCAA Pullman Regional. Grewal’s 197 total score broke a seven-year-old record of 203 set by Alice Hewson at the Schooner Classic in 2016.  Grewal finished the tournament with a school-record 20 birdies, including nine in the second round (most in a single round in school history). Clemson Women Selected for NCAA Tournament

Clemson, SC ACC Champion Clemson was selected for the Pullman Washington Regional of the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship on Wednesday afternoon.  Coach Kelley Hester’s team will be one of 12 teams in the field.  The top five teams after 54 holes of stroke play will advance to the National Championship Tournament in Scottsdale, Arizona, May 19-24.The Pullman Regional will be held at Palouse Ridge Golf Club, the home course for the Washington State University program.  This will be Clemson’s first appearance at this course, but the second time Clemson has played in an NCAA Regional in the state of Washington.  In 2014, Clemson’s first year of competition, Clemson played in the NCAA Regional at  Tumble Creek Golf Club in Suncadia, Washington.The Palouse Ridge Golf Club will play host to a women’s regional for the first time.  It played host to a men’s NCAA Regional in 2013.  The course opened on August 29, 2008. Tigers Finish Second at Cougar Classic

Charleston, S.C. – Thanks in large part to a 67 (-4) final round from Annabelle Pancake, Clemson women’s golf finished with the lowest team round of the day for a second-place finish at the Cougar Classic.Pancake fired off a bogey-free final round, for Clemson’s best single-round performance of the tournament, with four birdies on the day to surge into a tie for 13th. Melena Barrientos finished as the Tigers’ top individual performer, shooting under 70 in every round to finish at -7 and tie for fourth place.Savannah Grewal finished at -2 for the tournament, good for a tie for 21st. In her first tournament as a Tiger, Chloe Holder turned in an even-par third round to finish tied for 34th, while Sydney Roberts finished at +15.Clemson turned the low team round each of the last two rounds of the tournament, shooting 275 (-9) and 277 (-7) after a tough 288 first round (+4).The Tigers return to the course in two weeks, competing at the Schooner Classic in Norman, Okla. ....
