Alleyway bike yobs shining torches in dog walkers eyes YOBS on bikes have been terrifying young families and dog walkers using alleyways in Clacton by shining bright torches in their eyes. Mary Newton, who represents Clacton s Bluehouse ward on Tendring Council, said she is concerned about an increase in incidents in recent months. It comes as Tendring s Community Policing Team were called to reports of antisocial behaviour in Stonham Avenue, off Bluehouse Avenue, on Sunday. Mrs Newton said: I have heard about quite a few incidents around Langham Drive, Boxted Avenue and the cut through from Saxmundham Way to the Wick Lodge. ....
Brian Archer was left homeless following the blaze outside his flat in Saxmundham Way, Clacton, last week. A fundraising campaign was launched by his niece Debbie Watts to get him back on the road after his scooter was destroyed in the fire. Brian’s daughter Bev Shortley said: “We’re totally blown away by people’s generosity. “He still needs to have a secure home, suitable for his needs but at the moment, that’s not happening. He’s just sitting in a hotel room. “The poor man was asleep in bed and now at 83 years of age, he finds himself in complete limbo.” ....
Emergency services were called to the blaze in Saxmundham Way, Clacton, on Thursday morning. The scene is just a few hundred metres away from Coppins Hall Community Centre, in Maldon Way, which was destroyed by arson in the early hours last Tuesday. A man in his 80s suffered smoke inhalation and has been left homeless. He has been placed into temporary accomodation by Tendring Council. A spokesman for Essex Police said: A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life. Police were called to flats in Saxmundham Way, Clacton at around 9.20am on Thursday 10 December following reports of a fire. ....
