Tigers Impress in Second Meet

GREENVILLE, S.C. The Clemson cross country team competed in the Furman Invitational Meet on Saturday morning. Both teams ran a 5k, with the women finishing third and the men as the runner-up. Freshman Maddie Dinneen again shined for the Tigers, crossing the finish line 13th overall and first on her team with a time of 17:39.33. Fellow freshman Madison Roush finished behind her in 16th place, while Brynne Sumner was the third Tiger to complete the race and 22nd overall finisher. For the men, Sawyer Dagan finished fifth overall with a time of 14:42.57. He was trailed closely by Marlin Young, who completed the race in 14:46.37 for a sixth place finish. Daniel Sullivan rounded out the top-10 with a time of 15:11.05. I'm super impressed and happy, remarked Head Coach Vicky Pounds on the team's performance. I think everyone went out there and competed. Both Furman' teams are nationally ranked and I felt we competed well. Up next, the Tigers will travel to Louisville, Ky. ....

Tigers Start Season Strong at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. The Clemson cross country team got its season off to a hot start at the Kennesaw State Dual Meet on Friday night. Freshman Maddie Dinneen won the women's 4k while Marlin Young finished the 6k first for the men as each teams had the top three finishers in their respective races. Dinneen's 14:03.11 time was dominant in the 4k, as she crossed the line over 25 seconds sooner than the second-place finisher, Brynne Sumner. Clemson earned the third and fourth place finishes as well as Courtney Farishian and Madison Roush were quick to follow Sumner. Makenzie Steele finished ninth overall with a time of 14:43.22. Young led the way in the men's 6k, completing the course in just 18:46.59. He was trailed by Sawyer Dagan and Daniel Sullivan who completed the top-three sweep for the Tigers. I was impressed to see how well both teams worked together in the race, said Head Coach Vicky Pounds. It was a great start to the season and I look forward to see how they perform ....
