Fertility Support Community, on Thursday, was registered as an official non-governmental organisation in Maldives.
The organisation aims to protect the rights of individuals facing fertility problems by disseminating accurate information in Maldives, holding awareness programmes and arranging peer-to-peer support group sessions.
Co-founder Asha Hussain revealed the NGO s decision to compile information to estimate the prevalence of fertility issues in Maldives, convey findings to policy makers, and conduct fundraising activities to support individuals that want to seek fertility treatments from abroad.
Asha expressed concern that Maldives national Health Insurance provider Aasandha did not cover any medicine or treatment prescribed to address fertility issues.
