Dr Jitendra asks his constituency's DDC,Municipal heads to follow up COVID facilities


NEW DELHI/JAMMU: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today interacted with the DDC Chairpersons and Municipal Council Presidents of his Udhampur- Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency vis-à-vis Covid-19 management and asked them to regularly follow up COVID related facilities in their respective districts, constituencies and areas. He said that their role, being elected representatives, becomes imperative to tackle the Covid19 pandemic in their respective territories.
During the interaction, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the elected DDC representatives, having the legitimate authority, can play a pivotal role in this pandemic using their resources and authority so as to live up to the expectations of people. The Minister also impressed upon them to conduct regular meetings with the concerned Deputy Commissioners and top health officials of the district so as to bring to the notice of the concerned the important requirements related to Covid19 management, be that ventilators, oxygen c ....

Srinagar: In a major embarrassment to the administration of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, the newly-elected members of district development councils (DDCs) in the Union Territory on Tuesday, March 9, staged protests against what they said was a “humiliating and insulting” protocol announced for them.
The representatives, elected from the grassroots, also boycotted en masse a government programme. This comes at a time when the administration is eager to showcase the representatives to the world as an example of democracy achieved by the Central government after reading down Article 370 and withdrawing the erstwhile J&K’s special status. ....

JAMMU, Feb 8: The BJP today added two more District Development Councils (DDCs) to its kitty with its candidates winning the posts of chairperson and vice chairperson in Udhampur unanimously and in Doda through voting where its candidates polled nine votes as against five by the Opposition members. There was cross-voting by one of the DDC members either from Congress or National Conference in Doda where BJP got nine votes as against its eight members while Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad’s nephew Nadeem Sharief Niaz lost the election. ....
