NEW DELHI/JAMMU: Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh today interacted with the DDC Chairpersons and Municipal Council Presidents of his Udhampur- Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha constituency vis-à-vis Covid-19 management and asked them to regularly follow up COVID related facilities in their respective districts, constituencies and areas. He said that their role, being elected representatives, becomes imperative to tackle the Covid19 pandemic in their respective territories.
During the interaction, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the elected DDC representatives, having the legitimate authority, can play a pivotal role in this pandemic using their resources and authority so as to live up to the expectations of people. The Minister also impressed upon them to conduct regular meetings with the concerned Deputy Commissioners and top health officials of the district so as to bring to the notice of the concerned the important requirements related to Covid19 management, be that ventilators, oxygen concent

He informed the DDC members that a special thrust shall be laid on formulation of viable District Employment plan, District drinking water plan, District Health plan, District Sports activity plan and District Road Development plans as per the guidelines issued by the Finance Department.
Speaking at the meeting, DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur urged all the DDC members and District officers to coordinate with each other in devising the plans on rational basis and without any bias to maintain the sanctity of the 3-tier system of Panchayati Raj Institution and also to ensure that the people at large were benefited.

The DDC Chairperson, while speaking on the occasion, hoped that the developmental process on grassroots level will get a fresh boost with the establishment of a 3-tier PRI System in the District. She sought cooperation from District Administration for taking forward the developmental activities in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner assured all possible support for the smooth functioning of the District Council and hoped that the new office will act as the bridge between the people and Administration in realising the aim of decentralised planning and management, besides ensuring effective coordination and communication.
