EAST HARTFORD â The townâs library recently acquired the accounting of the estate of one of the âfirst familiesâ of early state history dating back to 1825.
The accounting of the estate of Stephen Pitkin of East Hartford includes payments to Ozias Roberts, the town tax collector at the time.
Robertsâ daughter, Esther Raymond, and her husband, Albert C. Raymond, donated the land and money to the town to create the library.
âThis document adds to our rich trove of Pitkin family-related materials that the library possesses,â Sarah Kline Morgan, the townâs library director, said today. âThis document also adds to our rich collection of East Hartford local history under the management of Jason Pannone, the cultural assets manager and head of reference.
