Fairfield Rotary Announces Scholarship Winners

The Fairfield Rotary Club during their meeting on Thursday announced their scholarship recipients for the year. Lucy Britt, Sara McGehee, Callista Willett, and Tyler Koker were all named Fairfield Rotary Scholars. Britt will be going to Basic Training, coming back to play volleyball at Frontier, go for Advanced Training, and then continue on in education. McGehee will be studying Aviation and Airport Management. Willett will study to be a counselor, and Koker will be a Graphic Design Major and minor in Marketing in Business

Headlines for Wednesday, July 13

The Fairfield City Council met Tuesday night. After approval of minutes and bills, Joseph Harrelson of 809 George St. addressed the council during public session. Harrelson, who has resided on George St. for 14 years is seeking extra patrols and help from the city to address issues in his neighborhood, which he says is a drug area that needs to be cleaned up. Harrelson claims to have had his property damaged on multiple occasions, including the breaking of the windows on his house and the killing of his dogs. In routine business, the purchase of a police vehicle was pulled from the agenda due to the dealership being unable to take the order for the truck until October. The council discussed the police eligibility list stating that as of last Friday the city had four applicants, however one applicant had withdrawn. Of the three remaining, all passed the written testing and will be allowed to do the physical agility testing on Saturday. Over 20 people have now tested over the past month,

Headlines for Tuesday, March 8th

The Fairfield City Council will meet tonight at City Hall. The night will begin with a public hearing at 5:30 to discuss the proposed business district in the city, but no action will be taken on the matter tonight by the council. Mayor Mike Dreith says he will likely begin the hearing with a brief explanation of the district before allowing any attendees to briefly speak their minds. Appearing on the Community Connection, he also spoke on the second big item on the agenda in the potential naming of a replacement for Brett Coale, who stepped away from the council last month. The mayor has nominated Cody Attebery to replace him, citing, in part, the fact he lost in a very close race to Dewey Eckleberry in the last election. In other action at tonight's Fairfield council meeting, aldermen are anticipated to vote on beginning the process to change utility collection dates.
