Haveri tops case fatality rate list as deaths rise in North Karnataka | Hubballi News

HAVERI: The pandemic is running through districts in North Karnataka like a scourge and the case fatality rate in many districts are rocketing with Haveri topping the list with 63 deaths in the week beginning May 13 (to 19) alone.
At a staggering 4.3%, Haveri district also had the dubious distinction of topping the case fatality rate in the state in the period, zooming past four other districts in the region which were also on top of the fatality rate graph.
Haveri’s CFR during this period was almost three times higher than the state average of 1.2%. Bidar (2.9%) and Kalaburagi (2.2%) were the next highest. Davanagere, with a CRF of only 0.3% brought up the rear, data from the state health department shows. ....

A storage unit is up and running in Belagavi
BELAGAVI\HAVERI: Health officials in Belagavi have readied facilities to safely store Covid-19 vaccines, which are expected to arrive in January. Vaccine boxes from Hyderabad, Chennai and Pune will arrive at these facilities, which will then supply the shots to districts in North Karnataka.
Bagalkot, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Karwar, Vijayapura and Koppal are among the places that will get supplies from Belagavi.
A district health official said a large storage unit with walk-in freezers and a cooler was ready and waiting for shipments. “We have also worked on protocols for sending vaccine boxes to other districts. Proper attention will be given to the smallest details and all care will be taken for handling and storing boxes,” a health official said. ....
