Since the Helderberg Baby Saver (HBS) was launched in 2014 thirteen babies have been safely relinquished through it. The first six babies came in over a period of 8 years with the last seven being placed in the Saver since March of last year.
A newborn girl was given a chance at life after she was placed in the Helderberg Baby Saver at the weekend – the second cherub for this year and the 12th since the establishment of the device in Somerset West in 2014.
Winning an international competition is no mean feat but this is exactly what the Overstrand did, beating countries like Colombia and big cities like Cape Town to win the Great Southern Bioblitz.
