Hawks arrest two bogus Eskom ‘employees’ for illegally installing electricity
Two men accused of stealing Eskom property and tampering with infrastructure appeared in the Kwaggafontein Magistrate s Court on 7 May.
The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation unit in Mpumalanga arrested two men for allegedly stealing Eskom equipment and installing electricity illegally.
Hawks spokesperson Captain Dineo Lucy Sekgotodi said they received a tip-off about the accused claiming to work at Eskom and in Kwaggafontein.
ESKOM EQUIPMENT SEIZED FROM SUSPECTS
The Hawks conducted a joint search and seizure operation with Eskom investigators on Thursday, 6 May, where they arrested two men.

The Hawks said in a statement that it proved that Ntombela was responsible for illegal power connections since 2018 at the flats he owned in Badisana in Mount Frere.
He continuously tampered with the power utility s infrastructure. As a result, Eskom lost more than R178 000, Hawks spokesperson Captain Yoliswa Mgolodela said.

CAPE TOWN, March 11 (ANA) - An Eastern Cape man has been sentenced to 12 yearsâ imprisonment after being convicted of illegal power connections by the local regional court.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) provincial spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said businessman Sandile Andres Ntombela, 34, from Mount Frere was sentenced earlier this week.
Ntombela, along with his business entity Zamdela (Pty) Ltd, was convicted on two counts of theft and fraud.
According to Mgolodela, the Hawksâ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team based in Umtata proved beyond reasonable doubt that Ntombela was responsible for illegal power connections since 2018 at a string of flats he owns around the Badisana location in Mount Frere.
