BRACKNELL Forest schools will be boosted by a grant worth £425,000 handed out specifically for climate change projects. The cash will go towards improving the insulation and carbon efficiency of the schools, with some buildings being around 120 years old. The refurbishments will make thermal improvements in classrooms across the borough helping to reduce carbon emissions and environmental impacts. Cllr Peter Heydon, Bracknell Forest Council’s finance boss, said: “This funding award will allow Bracknell Forest Council to install energy efficiency measures across our maintained schools and will help kick start our work on energy efficiency and the use of low carbon power sources, supporting the development of green skills and jobs in the borough. ....

A HANDFUL of schools in Bracknell Forest could be set to get big cash boosts according to new spending plans. The council’s budget proposals which residents only have one day left to have their say on list five new bids for school projects worth £275,000. Schemes drawn up in Bracknell Forest Council’s capital budget include: £50,000 to improve school security, with cash earmarked to erect new fencing and a new fire panel at Sandhurst School and to pay for safety at the front desk of The Pines school £60,000 for a report looking into whether Sandhurst School and Easthampstead Park School should be redeveloped in the future as ‘neither has had major investment in recent years’ and ‘the standard of their accommodation and facilities is falling behind academy schools’ ....
