more. reporter: we re expecting the wait for a 12-year-old girl to get off a flight from frankfurt. her journey from yemen stopped over in africa, where she s been for a week with her father. now the flight is expected to arrive at 4:19 from frankfort. the wait continues. this is a girl who has been waiting six years to see her family in california. emotions running high at the international terminal at sfo. as soon as she gets that stamp on her passport, she will automatically become a u.s. citizen. reporter: the 12-year-old from yemen has spent the past week waiting in an african hotel in djibouti with her father. she was set to arrive at the time the travel ban went into effect. her mother lived in yemen until recently and her father naturalize incod in 2010. reporter: the little girl has been trying to move to the u.s. for the past six years. she s not the only one. she wanted to come here for a conference. she couldn t in the face of what happened that day.
we brought you through mornings on 2 . a police shooting in san jose. police shot a man who they say was attacking his mother with an ax this morning. the 9 s janine de la vega live at the scene after talking with police just now. janine. reporter: yes, it is hard for police to make sense of all this. a son attacking his mother. let me show you what the scene looks like. a heavy police presence here. we know that officers were called from all over the city to respond here on lancing. this is right near jarvis close to almaden elementary school. there are detectives here interviewing witnesses who apparently saw a 26-year-old man start hitting his mother with an ax. now, there was two officers who had responded initially to this scene. it unfolded at about 7:10 this morning. and as they were driving up, they got out, they knew there was some sort of domestic incident happening and they actually did also see the suspect swing an ax at his mother. they then said they were f
would either choke to death or be burned alive. that s when an officer with the martinez police department kicked down her door and let her out to safety. as they were coming out i m sure they were exposed to flames which is pretty scary. most people would probably avoid making that trek without somebody edge couraging them. she is fine. the ambulance took her. reporter: the woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, expected to be okay according to the fire department. the officer also suffered a little smoke inhalation but did not need to be transported. the fire started around 5:45 this morning. it was serious enough that the contra costa county fire department had to call for a second alarm. it took some time for them to get the resources out here because they were already fighting another second alarm fire in the area overnight. they were able to put this one out in about 40 to 45 minutes. two apartment units destroyed. two more units damaged. neighbors
