up out of a sound sleep.crews from emeryville, oakland, and alameda county got the fire under ácontrol by eight a-m, but the blackened crane reaching toward the sky is what s keeping them from getting the flames completely out.those tens of thousands of pounds of metalcould potentially collapse. that s the last thing we want to do is put firefighters at risk to extinguish fires inside of a building that s still under construction, so we re not going to allow any firefighters to go in until that crane is secured. and that means road closures on san pablo, adeline, and other streets won t go away until that point either.crews evacuated about 35 people from a separate, nearby complexbecause they re in the potential collapse zone of the crane.they also can t go home until the crane is taken care of. my landlord called me at about 9:30 this morning, asked me do i know the building caught fire again? someone set it on fire again? i couldn t believe it. i almost broke out in tears.
