(NewsDakota.com) – The second annual King of the Sale Ring contest took place on the final day of the 84th annual North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City, with ten participants, each a licensed auctioneer, eight in the professional division and two in the rookie division. Terry Moe, Watford City, N.D. won the professional division. The auctioneer works at Sidney (Mont.) Livestock, Badlands Auction in Watford City, Montana Auction in Sidney, and Steffes Auction in Fargo. The sale ring wasn’t the first career for Moe. Six years ago, his wife, Angie, persuaded him to go to auction school, “and I just fell in love with it,” he said. ....

Winter Show featured nine teams in five events: branding, steer mugging, pick up race, steer trailer loading, and hide race, and after the dust settled, the Milk Cow Ranch team of cowboys came out on top. ....

(NDWS) – The woman behind the activity at the North Dakota Winter Show in Valley City started her Winter Show attendance as a baby in a car seat, stashed under the table at the craft show. Tesa Rode Klein grew up in Adrian, N.D., attending the Winter Show with her mom, Patricia, as Patricia sold crafts at the fair, and her dad, Loren, who, with Patricia, was part of the N.D. state Holstein sale held at the Winter Show. It actually goes back another generation for Klein. Her maternal grandma, Jean Miller, was part of a homemakers group that volunteered with the show, and her paternal grandpa, Paul Rode, was in the band that played during the rodeo and at the Eagles Club. ....
