A two-day maritime security exercise involving all maritime security agencies of India was conducted off the Lakshadweep Islands from April 1-2. The exercise, named Sagar Kavach 01/24, aimed to validate the effectiveness of coastal security mechanisms in dealing with asymmetric threats from the sea. Assets from the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Marine Police, fisheries, customs, and other security agencies participated in the exercise. Officials stated that the exercise demonstrated enhanced preparedness, response mechanisms, surveillance capabilities, and coordination among coastal security stakeholders.
