Group Asks Nigerian Supreme Court To Strike Out Kwara Governor s Appeal On Transition Implementation Committee, Local Council Election Case

A civil society organization in Nigeria that promotes good governance, transparency and accountability, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) has filed a motion at the Supreme Court in Abuja to seek the relief of the court for an order to strike out the appeal brought by the Governor, Government, and Attorney General of Kwara State on the judgement relating to the illegal appointment of Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) and refusal to conduct Local Government (LG) election in Kwara State.

A civic organisation, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) has documented how hundreds of communities, particularly rural areas are suffering from lack of potable water, electricity and other social amenities. The group disclosed this in a press statement made available to newsmen by Saeed Tijjani, the group Press Secretary stating that it has assessed and documented the needs of 2,764 communities in Kwara State under its Citizens Enlightenment and Mobilisation Program (CEMP) that was sponsored by the Gobir Organisation Foundation.

A civil society organisation, Elites Network for Sustainable Development, has accused the Kwara State Government of appointing six judicial officers without giving them their entitlements.    A statement released by its Press Secretary, Saeed Tijjani, on Tuesday said the government appointed some judges and Kadis in Kwara State between 2018 and 2020 to fill the vacancies at both the high court and the Shariah Court of Appeal but failed to make the necessary provisions for them.

  A civil society organisation, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD) and its coordinator, Dr. Alagbonsi Abdullateef have sued Kwara State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Bode Towoju and the Special Assistant on New Media to Kwara Governor, Olayinka Fafoluyi (Solace).   The plaintiffs are seeking multi-million-naira compensation for alleged defamatory comments about the organisation.

The Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), an anti-corruption civil society organisation, has urged the Kwara State Government to establish an anti-corruption agency.    This comes after a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Kwara State following the presentation of the forensic audit report by the contracted SSAC Advisory and Professionals Services to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
