Force against others. whether it s to infringe their constitutional rights. whether it s to obstruct congress. whether it s to u syrup the rule of law enforcement, there s no authority under federal or state law. not the constitution, the u.s. constitution well regulated. has always been sense before the founding. regulated by the government. the constitution gives congress the power under the clauses to provide the organizing and disciplining of the militia. gives states the power to appoint officers and congress has exercised this by creating the national guards, right? so there s no such thing as a lawful militia other than the state and national guards and federalized when called up for duty by the government. in fact, the laws of all 50 states don t permit these. and so there are ways for state and local officials to take action, criminally as well as through civil enforcement
People. and i never know million years saw this coming and. i think the conclusion that i came to is that there really been two strains in the republican party post-world war ii. an eisenhower strain, which was a boring, conservative governing strain. and then mccarthy strain, conspiratorial, non governing, xenophobic, of all generations. and i think a lot of us, who work particularly for george w. bush, and the idea of compassionate conservative-ism, we assume we are the dominant team. that for no other reason other than political necessity, because the constitution was changing so much, that we saw this dark side. and we probably plate that darkside too much. i have said, you know, i was the guy who try to elect people. i was good at it. i thought a lot more about winning elections then saving the country. and i regret that deeply. and i do not know what to do about it now, except to sound this alarm and to try and go out. it s what we are doing with the lincoln project, and use the
