Woman Goes from Part-Time Waitress to Owner of Outback Steakhouse

It’s taken about 20 years of hard work for a Detroit woman to claw her way up to the top. Gretta Jackson made history by becoming the first Black woman to own an Outback Steakhouse, which she says, although hard-earned, is worth the struggle.
“It makes everything that I’ve gone through, every setback every person who told me I couldn’t. Every obstacle that got in my way. Every time I wanted to quit, all of those things, it makes it so worth it,” Jackson said.
It began about 2 decades ago, when Jackson got a part-time employment at an Outback restaurant. One year down the line, she thought it better to work full-time, and that was what kick-started her long journey towards her success. The 45-year-old went ahead to list the different positions she’s held as she walked through her success journey. ....
